Summary:
Origin Energy electricity & gas, LPG, and solar
Origin Energy completely switched its marketing in the summer of 2019, moving away from big, short-term, discounts and instead focusing on offering simple energy plans with low rates and ongoing benefit periods. As of November 2020, Origin Energy currently offers several gas and electricity plans to customers across Australia, in addition to LPG bottled gas, and solar options.
Origin Energy plans for electricity and gas
While they might differ in terms of benefits and discounts, all Origin Energy plans come with the same basic standards. No matter what you choose, each Origin Energy electricity and gas plan comes with flexible billing and payment options, giving you the choice of e-billing and communication, or invoices and letters through the mail. As well, you can choose either monthly billing or quarterly (three month) billing, to help you better budget your households expenses, and have the option of direct debit, to ensure you never miss a bill.
Origin Energy Go
Origin Energy Go is the newest electricity and gas plan from Origin Energy, replacing their Origin Energy Max Saver Online offer. Like Origin Energy Max Saver, Origin Energy Go offers the biggest discount available, but with some new benefits.
Origin Energy has now paired up with Everyday Rewards to offer members additional benefits and chances to collect points. Everyday Rewards members can now collect additional Everyday Rewards points, with an upfront 5,000 point bonus at sign-up for each fuel type and an additional point for every $1 on their energy bills. In addition, members can support GreenPower with 25% carbon offset, at no additional cost. In addition, Origin Energy Go gives customers flexibility in billing and payment options, including monthly or quarterly billing and optional direct debit.
Not an Everyday Rewards Member?Non-members can still sign up for Origin Energy Go, all you need to do is skip the adding points step during signup.
Origin Energy Flexi
Origin Energy Flexi is the energy provider’s flexible electricity and gas plan, offering a simple, unconditional discount while giving you the freedom to choose how you want your billing and payments handled. You can choose whether you want billing and communication done by email or in the mail, and have the choice of monthly or quarterly billing, with optional direct debit. In addition, you can choose to leave, or switch plans, at any time without worrying about fees or lock-in contracts.
Origin Energy Home Support + Origin Basic gas
Origin Energy Home Support, available only for electricity, doesn’t offer lowered rates or discounts. Instead, electricity customers get a full 12 months of Allianz Global Assistance Emergency Home Assistance, included in their plan. This includes two included callouts, of up to $300 each, and 24/7 access to qualified Allianz Network tradespeople for support with 10 common home emergencies. In addition, Origin Energy Home Support comes with the standard flexible billing and payment methods, with optional direct debit
Origin Energy rates by state
Origin Energy has switched from confusing, big-discount deals, instead choosing to focus on simple low rates, and long-term discounts. Origin Energy electricity and gas rates vary by state, and who your energy distributor is, so make sure to compare plans using your postal code or address to find the most accurate information.

Origin Energy rates and plans in Western Australia
Unlike other states, Western Australia only allows for the full retail contestability of natural gas, meaning Western Australians can only choose their energy provider for gas, not electricity. As such, Origin Energy only offers natural gas plans to customers in the state.

Origin LPG plans
Origin offers LPG for residences. Since the price for LPG depends on several factors, including global supply and demand and currency exchange rate, as well as any maintenance or equipment fees, it can be difficult to calculate your individual LGP cost. Origin’s LPG services come with a number of options including gas bottle size and whether you want your gas bottles refilled or exchanged.
LPG bottle Size - What to choose
Origin offers a total of 10 different LPG bottle sizes, which range from 3.7kg to 210kg. Origin’s most popular 45kg LPG bottles usually come in pairs and can either be exchanged or refilled, depending on your usage.

LPG bottle refills or exchanges?
Origin offers both refills and exchange for LPG bottles, and the better choice for you can depend on your lifestyle and needs. LPG bottle exchange is great for customers who have low-to-medium gas consumption. You can order LPG when you need it, and the standard dual 45kg bottles fit in smaller spaces.
LPG bottle refills are great for those who consume a steady gas supply. Customers who choose this option have the peace of mind knowing they don’t need to monitor gas levels, as deliveries are regularly scheduled based on your average consumption.

Want Renewable Energy? Origin also offers the option to go green with LPG through GreenPower. For an added cost of $3 extra per 45kg bottle, Origin could offset your greenhouse gas emissions through planting trees, investing in renewable energy, or investing in energy reduction projects.
