Overview of Red Energy
Red Energy is a 100% Australian-owned energy company, first founded in 2004. Red Energy is wholly owned by Snowy Hydro, an Australian energy generation and retailing company first started in 1949 and one of Australia's leading renewable energy generators with plans to expand into Snowy 2.0 to increase energy generation and energy storage capabilities in Australia.
While initially, Red Energy provided electricity to Victoria, it has since expanded to include New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland. Like Red Energy, Lumo Energy is owned by Snowy Hydro and recently has begun moving some of its customers over to Red Energy. Customers in Victoria and South Australia can still get their energy plans through Lumo Energy, while customers in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and the ACT can have their energy sold to them through Red Energy. .
