Overview of Red Energy
Red Energy is a 100% Australian-owned energy company, first founded in 2004. Red Energy is wholly owned by Snowy Hydro, an Australian energy generation and retailing company first started in 1949 and one of Australia's leading renewable energy generators with plans to expand into Snowy 2.0 to increase energy generation and energy storage capabilities in Australia. While initially, Red Energy provided electricity to Victoria, it has since expanded to include New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland. Like Red Energy, Lumo Energy is owned by Snowy Hydro and recently has begun moving some of its customers over to Red Energy. Customers in Victoria and South Australia can still get their energy plans through Lumo Energy, while customers in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and the ACT can have their energy sold to them through Red Energy. .
Red Energy: Gas, electricity, and solar
Red Energy provides gas and electricity services to customers across Australia in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland. Plans differ in benefits and offers will change depending on your location. Plans in all available states include their Living Energy Saver, which offers flexible payment options for gas and electricity and a generous pay on time discount; Qantas Red Saver for Qantas customers, who could earn over 15,000 additional Qantas points with their gas and electricity plans in addition to great pay on time discounts; or the Red EV Saver which offers customers across Australia pay on time discounts and free electricity use at certain times so you can charge your electric vehicle for free.
Red Energy gas and electricity offers
Red Energy offers gas and electricity plans to Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland. Specific plans, and benefits for plans, depends on your location but here is a brief outline of what Red Energy offers. Various tariff types are available through Red Energy, including single-rate tariffs or time-of-use, with or without a controlled load. All plans listed below are for single rate tariffs without a controlled load.

Red Energy solar power services
Red Energy offers solar energy options for its customers in Australia. Red Energy has three solar packages; standard, premium, and smart; all of which include solar panels, inverters, and can come with smart energy monitoring services, as well as the option for an Enphase Lithium-ion battery to store solar energy to use when you need.

Customers having difficulty paying their bill due to financial hardship can contact Red Energy for assistance, including payment extensions, government concessions, and help getting in contact with a financial counselor. In addition, Red Energy offers customers in Victoria the ability to pay their gas and electricity bills in smaller, more manageable, monthly installments to help reduce the stress of bill shock every three months. You can sign-up for a new service for your current house, or if you’re moving house, online or over the phone.
Customers who wish to sign up to Red Energy can choose their service for their current home, or for a home they are moving into, online. Customers who sign up will need to provide all the relevant information necessary including their address and personal information as well as proof of identification in order to agree to a credit check.
When opting to sign up for a service in a new home, you will need to agree to an electrical safety agreement for your new premise, stating that you understand there must be clear and easy access to the meter, the main switch will be turned off, and that reconnection or disconnection may occur remotely at any time of the day which can cause exposed wires to become live without notice.

Red Energy, like most energy providers, has mixed reviews across the web. ProductReview customers give them 1.9 out of 5 stars, with customers saying that they have experienced high energy bills after switching to Red Energy and they find it difficult to open new accounts or close old ones. However, customers who rated Red Energy highly say they find it easy to speak with Red Energy's customer service and issues are resolved quickly.
