Origin Energy Solar Feed-In-Tariff Rates
If you have residential solar energy on your property, you might be interested to know Origin Energy’s solar feed-in-tariff rates. Origin Energy offers solar feed-in-tariff options to its customers, which vary depending on the state you live in and depend on what Origin Energy electricity plan you choose.
Regular Solar Feed-In-Tariff: Origin Energy’s minimum solar FiT, which is available on every electricity plan they offer. If you have a smaller solar energy system (under 5kW), or use most of your energy during the day, you’ll probably be better off choosing one of Origin Energy’s electricity plans, and opting for the lower solar feed-in-tariff.
Solar Boost Feed-In-Tariff: If you have a larger solar PV system (over 5kW) and don’t use most of your energy during the day, thus exporting more to the grid, you might be better off choosing Origin Energy Solar Boost. With Solar Boost, you don’t get additional discounts, but you do get a higher solar FiT for the energy you generate.
Solar Boost Plus Feed-In-Tariff: Solar Boost Plus offers Origin Energy’s biggest solar feed-in-tariff, but with some conditions. Customers can only get Origin Energy Solar Boost Plus if they purchase a new solar PV system directly from Origin First.
State | Regular Solar Feed-In-Tariff | Solar Boost Feed-In-Tariff | Solar Boost Plus Feed-In-Tariff |
---|---|---|---|

Origin Go Zero Electricity & GreenPower
If you are looking for ways to be more environmentally friendly and energy efficient, then you are in luck. Origin Energy offers two add-on programs that allow you to support renewable energy programs while offsetting your electricity usage.
The first of these programs is Origin Electricity Go Zero. This add-on is 100% carbon-neutral and is backed by the government certified initiative, Climate Active. Customers can add Origin Go Zero Electricity to their electricity plan for an additional $1.50 per week and Origin will offset the greenhouse emissions that are created by your energy usage. This not only reduces your carbon footprint, but Origin also supports a number of credible offset projects which helps contribute to a healthier planet.
Next, there is GreenPower. This program is accredited by the Australian government and can be added onto your existing electricity bill for a small fee each month. Below is a table highlighting the rates for GreenPower:
GreenPower | Weekly Price |
---|---|
25% GreenPower | $0.65 |
50% GreenPower | $1.35 (estimate based on 5,000 kWh of annual usage at $0.014 kWh) |
100% GreenPower | $2.70 (estimate based on 5,000 kWh of annual usage at $0.028 kWh) |
With GreenPower, Origin Energy matches your electricity usage and sends the same amount of renewable energy back into the energy grid on your behalf. By adding GreenPower to your Origin electricity plan, you can reduce your carbon emissions, all while supporting renewable energy projects in Australia.
