Boost Mobile SIM Plans Offer Discounted Rates with 5G Coverage and Unlimited International Calls
Boost Mobile offers affordable prepaid mobile phone plans on Australia's most reliable network, but is Boost Mobile worth it? In this guide, we cover all the important factors to know about Boost prepaid plans, Boost network coverage, customer reviews and more. Read on to get the full scoop on Boost Mobile Australia.
Boost Mobile offers great network coverage thanks to its use of the Telstra mobile network!
Boost Australia is only 1 of 2 phone companies that has full access to the Telstra Network which is also Australia’s most expansive mobile network.
Boost prepaid plans offer 3G & 4G coverage to over 98% of the Australian population and 2.6million square kilometres (1km more than all other providers) thanks to the Telstra mobile network. Boost Mobile's 4G network covers major cities, while its 3G service covers most regional areas. Telstra is also working to roll out their 5G network across major cities.
What does all of this mean?
Basically, you can expect all the same amazing coverage with Boost Mobile that you would from Telstra. Even if you live in a rural area or enjoy the wilderness, you will have great access to phone coverage.
We know that Boost Mobile network coverage is great, so what about the price?
Here's a closer look at the Boost Mobile phone plans on offer.
Boost is Among the Cheapest Mobile Providers in Australia!
Plans come in 2 forms: 28-day expiry & 12-month expiry.
The difference between the 12-month plans and the 28-day plans is that with the 12-month option you receive all your data at once and get to choose how much you use each month until the 12-month expiry period has ended. In other words, your data won't run out at the end of the month, and you won't have to top up each month, but you will have to manage your usage over a year's time.
Let's take a look at all of the Boost Mobile Phone plans available on 28-day expiry:

Boost Mobile's long expiry or 12-month recharge plans are great for people who prefer to pay for everything upfront. This type of plan is great for people who travel or use their phones irregularly. If you use lots of data one month and hardly any, the next, you can spread it all out over the year and use as much as you like whenever it suits you best.
The other obvious benefit of paying a lump sum is that it does work out to give you a small discount vs paying for the same data on a monthly plan. With a 28-day expiry, you will end up paying for about 14 plans over the course of a year.
These SIM-only plans also include unlimited standard calling, as well as call and text internationally to a number of selected countries across the globe.
Boost is Among the Cheapest Mobile Providers in Australia!
While no Boost Mobile phone plans come with international roaming, they do have international calling include.
All Boost Mobile plans automatically come with unlimited calls to the following countries:
Depending on your plan you will also get an allotted amount of extra minutes to call the following countries:
Now that you have seen what Boost Mobile phone plans are available, here is quick comparison between Boost Mobile and Telstra plans.
So, we already established that Boost Mobile basically gives you full Telstra network access without the hefty price tag you would find at a top-teir provider – but how much cheaper is Boost than Telstra?
At the time of writing, Boost Mobile phone plans came in at around 25% cheaper than Telstra mobile phone plans. This number will, of course, depend on the plan you choose, but in our example, we found Boost Mobile offered 40GB for $30 while Telstra offered a nearly identical plan for $10 more for a total of $40.
Basically, Boost offers the same network coverage for a bit cheaper, but don't expect to get all the add-ons and inclusions you would with a Telstra Mobile plan.
So, Boost Mobile's network coverage is great and the plans are cheap –but what are the advantages and drawbacks of choosing the company?
Let's have a look.
You can see from the list above that people have trouble with keeping their existing number, dealing with Boost Mobile's customer service, and the fact that customer benefits only last for a few months after sign-up.
Boost is a great choice for a relatively inexpensive plan on Australia's best mobile network.
Boost Mobile phone plans are great for people who live out in rural areas or who enjoy spending time in the wilderness because the mobile network coverage is unbeatable. Boost also has a large range of plans that allow you to tailor your service to what fits you best.
If you have friends or families overseas, you don’t have to skip out on good mobile coverage to get a plan that allows international calling because Boost offers both.
With all that said, it is important to note that Boost isn't the cheapest mobile phone provider out there, but for what you get in terms of price, data allowance, and network coverage, Boost is a strong choice.
We think that Boost is a great option for people who like simple plans, like students, seniors, or kids getting their first phone plan, but enough about what we think. Let's have a look at what real Boost customers have to say.
Across the web, Boost Mobile reviews are mixed.
Customers like the service once they are activated and appreciate that Boost Mobile uses the Telstra Network to provide prepaid options to Australian customers.
However, many customers cite trouble receiving their Boost SIM card, and mention that it arrives several days late. We also saw most of the negative reviews pertained to porting your number from your old company. Time and time again, customers mentioned this process taking days on end and trouble getting help from Boost customer support to resolve the issue.
We saw the same trend with customers who decided to request a refund saying that they had to chase after customer service to get their money returned.
Obviously, these reviews aren't very favourable, but if you are someone who isn't in a hurry, and are fine getting a new number, then these negative Boost Mobile reviews shouldn't phase you.
As always, we recommend you do your own research before making a decision.
