As an experienced energy provider in Australia, Origin Energy has now expanded to include broadband as part of it’s services. Origin broadband is available to Origin Energy customers as a bundle, or standalone if you have a different energy provider. Is Origin broadband any good? You can find out more about Origin NBN and fibre plans, Origin broadband reviews, and how to contact Origin broadband below.
What is Origin Broadband?
While Origin is a well known household name in the energy market, as one of the biggest energy providers in Australia, did you know they also offer broadband?
Origin has recently joined the growing number of home utility companies that offer both home energy and home internet all in one place. The biggest advantage to bundling your Origin Energy and Origin broadband plans? Like with most other bundled home utility companies, Origin will give you $10 off your monthly Origin broadband bill when you sign up for both.
If you’re already an Origin Energy customer, Origin broadband might seem like a good deal but, what can you actually get with an Origin internet plan?

Origin Internet Reviews
In our research of Origin broadband reviews across the web, the consensus seems to be mixed as to whether Origin internet is any good.
While some Origin internet customers say that customer service is great, and often name agents by name when complimenting them, other customers claim long hold times, rescheduled NBN appointments, and issues with cancelling or switching providers
. It’s important to remember to do your own research when switching internet providers, as everyone’s experiences differ.
David of Mid North Coast, NSW gives Origin NBN 4 stars on ProductReview, and cites
Tristan was very helpful with explaining the nbn plan changes to help with saving some money on my current nbn plan and then the rest of the team got me sorted with updating my nbn plan.
Says Chris, an Origin broadband customer who gave Origin NBN 2 stars on TrustPilot:
When I moved house
When I moved house, it took 2 weeks, 17 phone calls and 8 different technical support personnel to get internet up and running. The house already had NBN and I already had a Origin router. I don't think I will be using Origin again. Pretty poor on Origins behalf.
I think 2 stars is generous
Is Origin Internet Any Good?
It’s hard to definitively say whether Origin internet is any good, as everyone’s experiences differ.
Origin Internet Advantages
- Fibre and NBN available
- Save money and BYO modem
- No lock-in contract
- Save $10/month for Origin Energy customers
Origin Internet Disadvantages
- No entertainment bundles
- Modem not included (+$120 to purchase)
- More expensive for for non-Origin Energy customers
What we like about Origin internet is that Origin Energy customers can score a $10 discount every month when they bundle all their Origin services. For non-Origin Energy customers, it might be worth it to look elsewhere to find a cheaper broadband plan.
Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide whether switching to Origin internet is right for you and you should do your own broadband research to compare internet plans and providers.
