Summary:
Overview of EnergyAustralia
EnergyAustralia (formerly TRUenergy), is one of the Big Three energy providers that both generate and sell their energy. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong-Kong based CLP Group. EnergyAustralia was first founded in 1996 as the state-owned enterprise, formed by a merger between Orion Energy and Sydney Electricity, which called itself EnergyAustralia. Prior to the 1997 deregulation of the residential energy market, EnergyAustralia had a price-regulated monopoly of it’s supply area. In 2011, the original EnergyAustralia was sold to TRUenergy, which then adopted its original name in 2012.
Since its rebirth, EnergyAustralia has gone on to become one of the largest energy providers in Australia, offering electricity and gas as well as green energy options and solar power.
