Simply Energy Review

In our research of Simply Energy reviews, customers generally don’t seem too pleased with their Simply Energy service.

Customers on TrustPilot give Simply Energy 1.3 out of 5 stars, with 98% 1-star reviews. On ProductReview, Simply Energy gets 1.2 out of 5 stars, from over 1,300 total customer reviews.

The biggest complaint customers seem to have is inexplicably high energy bills and an inability for Simply Energy customer service to resolve any problems. Some customers say that this is due to sudden increases in supply and usage rates, while others say Simply Energy wrongly estimates their gas or electricity usage.

Dave H, of Greater Melbourne VIC, says in his verified 1-star Simply Energy review: They increased my electricity kwh and daily usage rates, and didn't let me know. I noticed it after about 6 months and checked the contract which stated that they had to advise me of these changes on the next bill, which they hadn't done. I emailed them and asked for the previous bills to be revised, and then for the difference to be subtracted from my next bill. They refused to revise any of the bills and said I would have to pay interest on the pending bill (I refused to pay the latest bill until this issue was rectified). I changed energy providers to Kogan who are great, and who have better rates than Simply Energy anyway.

Justine C, a verified reviewer from Sydney, NSW had a similar experience with the energy provider, which she outlines in her Simply Energy review: My electricity bill is normally $100-150 a quarter, yet for some unbeknown reason (still not satisfied with their investigations) my last bill turned out to be $725 a quarter. Have phoned them a few times between the 04/11/21 - 23/12/21 to sort out, and said they investigated and that an updated bill would be sent to me, of which I still have NOT received. All I get are overdue and disconnection notices! Terrible, terrible service.

It’s hard to say whether Simply Energy is a good energy provider or not, as everyone’s experiences are different. When comparing and switching energy providers, it’s important to do your own research to find the best energy plan for you and comparison services like Selectra can help.
