Aussie Broadband is one of the few Australian owned and operated telecom providers around, but are they any good? In this guide, we'll show you real Aussie Broadband customer reviews and help you determine what's right for you. Read on for Aussie Broadband plans, prices, reviews, contact info and more.
Aussie Broadband Services & Network Coverage
Aussie Broadband, or Aussie BB as it's also affectionately known, was founded in 2008 and is an MVNO under the Optus Network. This means unlike Telstra, Vodafone, or Optus, they don’t own their own network but use the Optus network instead.
The name Aussie Broadband can be a bit misleading because they offer much more than just broadband plans.
You'll find Aussie Broadband plans for NBN and mobile phones as well as other forms of internet such as mobile broadband, and fixed home phone lines.
Something to note about this provider that is important to many people is that Aussie Broadband is an Australian-owned and operated company and is proud to invest in local jobs and services
Aussie Broadband Network CoverageOverall, Aussie Broadband gets good network coverage. Through the Optus Network, Aussie Broadband covers 98% of the Australian population and over 1.62 million square kilometres with 3G and 4G coverage. Thanks to Optus, Aussie Broadband customers will also begin to see faster 5G coverage expand in the coming years.

Aussie Broadband Review
Surely your next question is "Is Aussie Broadband any good?"
As we already established above, Aussie Broadband has great network coverage, so you are safe there, but what about customer service, pricing, etc.
To help you answer this question, we took a look around the net for Aussie Broadband reviews from real customers.
Overall we are happy to say that Aussie Broadband reviews are very positive.
- Here's how Aussie Broadband ranks around the web:
- Product Review: 4 stars out of 5
- Facebook Reviews. 4,2 stars out of 5
- Google Reviews: 4.8 stars out of 5
Customers like their fast internet connections, ease of contacting Aussie Broadband customer service, speaking to an Australian customer support team, and how any issues are resolved quickly.
However, customers often cite average nightly speeds are slower than expected and outages occur more often than normal.
Here is an Aussie Broadband review we saw from someone named Shannon:
Absolutely smooth, perfect and great speeds
No issues. No drop outs. No packet loss or lag in game. Best connection I've had in 12 years in Australia. Would highly recommend even if it's a tad more pricey. – Shannon I.
Shannon seems to have had no issues with her service dropping out and also mentions how her fast connection is good for gaming and worth the money.
Another customer named Rod from SE QLD wrote the following Aussie Broadband review:
Talk to real people
Unlike anyone else I have delt with, you can talk to an Australian that you can understand and get a decent answer. Customer service! Who would have thought of that these days? – Rod, South East Queensland
Aussie Broadband is Australian owned and operated, and this seems to be a big hit with customers.
Still there were some negative reviews we must mention and this one from username "Slm" nicely sums up what we saw in the 1-star Aussie Broadband reviews:
Terrible service - daily dropouts. Stay away!
Terrible service, connection dropped out on a daily basis — multiple times. I would highly recommend staying away at all costs. A budget provider with terrible up time. Made me wait for days before getting NBN assistance — I work from home so this cost me absolute $000s is foregone costs.
Appalling - do yourself a favour and don’t make the same mistake I made going with this terrible provider. – Slm
It seems that in some areas, the Aussie Broadband network is quite slow with frequent dropouts and can take longer than average to get set up.
In this case, we would definitely recommend taking a look at the Aussie Broadband NBN service map online to double-check that you have fast speeds available in your area before deciding to switch.
As we always mention with these reviews, it's important to do your own research and remember that everyone's opinion is subjective and that unhappy customers are likelier to leave a review than happy customers.

Aussie Broadband Outages
Just like with all providers, at some point, you may find yourself dealing with an Aussie Broadband outage.
According to the outage tracking website Down Detector, 88% of Aussie Broadband outages are reported for their internet service. The remaining 11% of Aussie Broadband outages come from Aussie Broadband's mobile network service.
Therefore, your chances of dealing with an outage from Aussie Broadband will be more likely with your Aussie Broadband NBN connection than with your mobile phone.
However, not all issues with the internet have to do with outages in the network. What happens if you need to check? Read on.
Is Aussie Broadband Down? - How to Check
If you have a suspicion that the Aussie Broadband network is down, you can check online to see if other customers have reported the same issue.
You have two options for checking online for an Aussie Broadband outage:
On the Aussie Broadband website at the link above, you can see a list of all current outages (if there are any) and a full list of future planned outages.
On the other hand, Aussie Broadband says it prides itself on its transparency with its customers.
Here is a quote taken from the Aussie Broadband website:
"At Aussie Broadband, we pride ourselves on our No Bullsh*t value and that means giving our customers information, regarding outages, as soon as it becomes available to us."
You'll be notified by email of an Aussie Broadband outage in your service area as soon as an outage is detected on their end and only if it applies to you.
As mentioned above, you can also take a look on the Down Detector website, where people report live outages and outages from within the last 24-hours. Here you can also view a map of where the reports came from.
Keep in mind that a slow connection doesn't always mean you have an outage in your area.
Aussie Broadband Speed Test
If you have a slow connection, the first thing you should do is run an Aussie Broadband speed test.
A speed test can help identify if you have an issue with your connection, or if you are navigating slowly due to some other reason.
To check your Aussie Broadband NBN speed, click the button above or visit our full guide on how to run a speed test for Aussie Broadband.
Here you'll learn what the results mean also find ways to troubleshoot your internet connection and figure out what exactly is wrong if your broadband isn't as fast as it should be.
Aussie Broadband Moving House
Aussie Broadband recommends contacting their customer service team once you know your moving date, as early as possible, by calling 1300 880 905.
Aussie Broadband will close down the current address and set up the new address to be activated on your chosen day. Aussie Broadband has no connection, set-up, or moving fee unless the connection is at a new housing development.
If the NBN connection is at a new property development, there will be an additional charge from the NBNCo. which is usually $297.
