Optus NBN plans
Optus NBN is a fixed-line home internet service delivered over the national network. Plans come with unlimited data, the Optus Ultra WiFi Modem with 4G backup, and an optional home phone line. Because Optus runs its own network, you get direct access to the full NBN rather than a reseller connection.

Our take. Optus is a solid middle-of-the-road NBN provider: cheaper than Telstra at most speed tiers and running on its own network, but not a budget option. If you want the lowest price, a challenger like Tangerine or Kogan may be cheaper. The Optus Ultra WiFi Modem is free if you stay 36 months (otherwise $8.50 per remaining month, up to $252).

Optus internet outage
An outage is only one possible cause of a dropped connection (a router problem or power cut are just as common). To check for a known outage, use the Optus service status checker on the Optus website: enter your address and it will tell you whether NBN or mobile services are down in your area.
If your area is clear but you are still offline, contact Optus support on 133 937.
Optus Sport has shut down
As of 1 August 2025, Optus Sport has ceased operations. All football content previously on Optus Sport, including the English Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, J.League and the National Women's Soccer League, has moved exclusively to Stan Sport, often with special offers for former Optus customers.
