Aussie Broadband seniors plan

Aussie Broadband has three NBN plans for seniors. These NBN seniors plans come with an included landline, and enough data to keep up with friends and family on social media. With Aussie Broadband Seniors Plans, all plans come with 12Mbps download speeds, which is more than enough for basic internet needs like searching the web, going on social media, and checking email.

NBN 12/1 with 100GB of data and causal VoIP phone line: This senior NBN plan comes with 100GB of data per month which might not be a lot but is more than enough for emails, social media, and browsing the web. This plan includes a PAYG landline, with free calls to other Aussie Broadband customers, but you will still need to pay for other calls to local, national, and mobile Australian numbers.

NBN 12/1 with unlimited data and causal VoIP phone line: If you need unlimited data, this plan comes without the data caps other senior NBN plans come with. In addition, you also get a causal pay-as-you-go phone line, with free calls to other Aussie Broadband customers.

NBN 12/1 with 100GB of data and unlimited VoIP phone line: If you prefer talking on the phone, this seniors NBN plan comes with unlimited calls to local, national, and mobile numbers, along with 100GB of data per month for light internet usage.

Fastest NBN providers & plans

Thanks to the advent of NBN 250 (NBN Superfast) and NBN 1000 (NBN Ultrafast) for certain NBN connections, the National Broadband Network is faster than ever. If you’re looking for the fastest NBN plans, there is a lot to consider. First, you need to look at the average evening speeds. While all NBN plans have a maximum broadband speed, not all NBN providers are able to achieve that speed. Below you can find a table of the top internet providers and the percentage of their advertised plan speed they actually reach, according to the ACCC.

NBN plan percentage of max speed by provider
Provider Percentage of download speed during all hours Actual performance during busiest hours
Aussie Broadband 97% 96.1%
Dodo & iPrimus 86.1% 85%
Exetel 90.4% 89.9%
iiNet 97.1% 96.5%
MyRepublic 97% 95.7%
Optus 99.4% 98.7%
Superloop 96.4% 95.3%
Telstra 98.2% 97.1%
TPG 99.5% 98.9%
Vodafone 94.5% 93.7%

This means that no matter what speed tier you choose, if you’re looking for the fastest NBN plan for that speed tier, you’re better off choosing one of the providers listed who achieve the closest percentage to their advertised speed.

Best NBN 250 / NBN Superfast plans

NBN Superfast is one of the newest plan speeds available on the National Broadband Network. With up to 250Mbps download speeds, these plans are great for heavy internet users with a need for speed. If you’re a small business owner who does most of their work online, a heavy gamer, or a large household with multiple devices and people who work online, study online, and stream online, then considering an NBN Superfast plan might be what your household needs.

Best NBN providers for families & entertainment bundles

Choosing the best NBN plan for a family is relatively straightforward. Households of 3 or more, with kids who probably like to stream Netflix or YouTube, play games online, and maybe even study and go to school online, with parents who might be working from home too, often need faster NBN than smaller households who might not use the internet as much.

When choosing the best family NBN plan, it's especially important to consider:

  1. Speed: For families of 3, 4, 5, or more, choosing a fast and reliable broadband service is a must. Consider an NBN 50 or NBN 100 plan to ensure all devices can access the same fast download speeds.
  2. Bundles: Bundling your NBN plan with an entertainment package such as Foxtel or Fetch can keep the whole family entertained.

How do we compare the best NBN plans?

There is a lot to consider when it comes to choosing an NBN plan, and not every plan is best for everyone. Knowing what you need when comparing internet options can make choosing an ISP that much easier.

Cost: The cost of an NBN plan is one of the biggest factors, and while prices don’t vary too much between providers, there are cheaper options you can choose from no matter the speed tier you need.

Speed: The correct NBN speed can mean the difference between a constant headache with your home broadband connection, or smooth streaming and browsing. While faster plans do cost more, choosing a faster option might be a better choice.

Data: These days, most NBN plans come with unlimited data. All plans listed above (expect senior NBN plans when listed) come with unlimted data.

Contract: More and more ISPs are offering no lock-in contracts, giving customers flexibility to switch and change plans and providers when they want. Unless listed otherwise, all plans above come with no contract.

Inclusions: Whether it’s an NBN bundle, an included modem, or other features, inclusions in NBN plans can drive up the cost. By bringing your own modem when possible, and opting for a simple plan without the bells and whistles you can save money and still get fast and reliable home broadband.
