AGL solar panels and solar PV packages
While AGl was once a major solar panel retailer in Australia, they have since scaled back their solar options. Now, with AGL you have two choices: BYO solar panels and install battery storage with AGL or purchase a full solar PV system with panels, inverter, and battery.

AGL solar packages
AGL has two solar packages available to purchase with the only real difference being if you want a Tesla Powerwall battery, or LG Chem RESU battery with SolarEdge StorEdge Inverter. With AGL’s solar packages, you can opt to pay upfront, or choose to pay in equal installments over 60 months (plus interest).

If you’re interested in purchasing a full solar PV system bundle with AGL, you’ll also have access to AGL’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP). If you choose to sign up for AGL’s VPP for five years, you’ll get $1,000 off the upfront cost of your bundle.
Victorian Government Solar Homes Rebate Victorian customers can get up to $1,850 off their AGL solar package through the Victorian Government Solar Homes Program solar rebate. The next release of the Victorian solar home rebate is Wednesday, 2 December 2020.
AGL solar batteries
If you’re already benefiting from solar energy, but want to up your solar game, you might consider installing a battery storage system. AGL has three battery storage systems available to purchase, which you can choose to pay outright, or in equal installments over 60 months (plus interest).

If you purchase battery storage through AGL, you’ll have the opportunity to join AGL’s Virtual Power Plant. By joining AGL’s VPP for five years, you’ll receive $1,000 off the outright cost of your solar battery storage.
Victorian Government Solar Battery Rebate Victorian customers can get up to $4,174 off their AGL solar battery package through the Victorian Government Solar Battery rebate.
AGL Virtual Power Plant
A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is a network of home solar batteries, connected together to reduce pressure on the electricity grid during times of high demand. If you have either an LG Chem RESU or Tesla Powerwall battery, and aren’t already part of a Virtual Power Plant, you might be eligible to join the AGL VPP.
To be eligible to join AGL’s VPP, you must:
- Live in NSW, VIC, QLD, or VIC
- Have either a Tesla battery or LG Chem battery
- Have an operating solar PV system
- Have a reliable internet connection
- Not be part of a Virtual Power Plant already
- Be an AGL customer or switch to AGL
There are many benefits to joining a Virtual Power Plant, and with AGL’s VPP you’ll:
- Receive $1,000 off initial purchase and installation costs if you purchase a solar battery or full solar package with AGL
- If you already have a solar battery: A one-off $100 sign-up bonus plus $45 quarterly credits over the first 12 months. If you stay with the VPP beyond 12 months, you’ll continue to get $45 quarterly credits
- Have peace of mind knowing you’re helping your community and the environment
- Have your solar battery managed by AGL up to 30 times per year
- Be able to check your solar and battery system using AGL My Account or the AGL app
