Red Energy Plans Explained
As previously mentioned, Red Energy keeps the same rates for each plan available within a certain distribution network, the only difference is the other perks and incentives you could get.
Red Energy has a number of different plans, each with its own benefits. Red Energy plans include everything from perks for electric vehicle owners, free zoo membership, and even additional Qantas points for Qantas members.

Red Energy Living Energy Saver
Red Energy Living Energy Saver plan offers great rates, but no additional benefits or incentives. Living Energy Saver is the most simple Red Energy plan, with no contract term and no exit fees, plus you get flexible billing and payment options.
Qantas Red Saver
If you have a Qantas membership, Red Energy Qantas Red Saver can score you up to 10,000 additional Qantas points when you sign up per fuel type, plus additional points for every $1 you spend on your gas and electricity bills when you pay on time. In addition, Qantas Red Saver comes with no contract term, no exit fees, and flexible billing and payment options.
Red Energy Rewards and Qantas Red Saver Red Energy has both their internal Red Rewards program, available to all Red Energy customers, and their partnership program with the Qantas Red Saver program. Your Red Energy plan will determine how many additional membership points you might get with Red Energy.
Red EV Saver
The Red EV Plan is only available to customers with a smart meter. Red EV Saver gives you free electricity use between 12pm and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday along with a renewable energy matching promise for every unit of electricity consumed. Red EV Saver also comes with an ongoing contract term, $0 exit fees, and flexible bill payment options.
Red Taronga Flex
Red Taronga Flex is only available in New South Wales and gives customers one Zoo Friends Family Flex annual membership to enjoy the Zoo 365 days a year. Zoo entrance includes one adult and two kids and comes with 10% off food at Taronga cafes and a 15% discount in gift shops. Red Taronga Flex also comes with a renewable matching promise for every unit of electricity used on an ongoing contract, with $0 exit fees.
Red Solar Saver
Red Solar Saver is only available in South Australia and offers a higher solar feed-in tariff for households with solar energy of 18c/kWh for the first 5kWh exported per day. Red Solar Saver also comes with a renewable matching promise, flexible billing and payment options, and an ongoing contract with no exit fees.

How Do Red Energy Rates Work?
Unlike other energy providers in Australia, who offer different rates and discounts depending on the plan you choose, Red Energy rates are done a little differently.
No matter what plan you choose with Red Energy, you will get the same usage and supply charges for your energy. Therefore, Red Energy offers different credits, rewards points, and other incentives depending on the plan you choose. Red Energy Feed-in Tariff Rates
Red Energy has a solar feed-in tariff for households with solar panels in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and South Australia. Red Energy feed-in tariffs are not available to households in the ACT.
Red Energy offers a solar energy plan called Red Solar Saver in New South Wales, which gives Red Energy NSW customers a higher feed-in tariff of 18c/kWh for the first 5kWh you export to the grid.

Is Red Energy 100% Australian owned?
Yes! Red Energy is 100% Australian owned. Red Energy is owned by Snowy Hydro Limited, an Australian owned energy company that is dedicated to renewable energy and increasing competition of the energy market. Red Energy joined the energy retail market in 2004 and now supplies electricity and gas to more than one million customers in NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD and SA.
In addition, 100% of Red Energy customer service is Australian. The Red Energy head office is in Melbourne, Australia and their friendly customer service team is always there to assist you with any energy related questions you may have.
Is Red Energy Cheaper than Origin Energy?
The cost of gas and electricity can vary depending on your location, usage, and the plan you choose. However, according to Selectra's energy comparison tool, Origin Energy plans tend to be slightly less expensive than Red Energy plans. On the other hand, Red Energy plans tend to have incredible benefits and discounts that are worth looking into. It's worth comparing energy plans based on prices for gas and electricity, but also based on discounts, rewards and benefits, in order to see which one is the most cost-effective for you.
How Do I Sign Up for Red Energy?
Existing customers can sign-up for a new Red Energy plan for your current house, or if you’re moving house, online or over the phone.
New customers who wish to sign up to Red Energy can choose a new energy plan for their current home, or for a home they are moving into, online. Customers who sign up will need to provide all the relevant information necessary including their address and personal information as well as proof of identification in order to agree to a credit check.
When opting to sign up with Red Energy in a new home, you will need to agree to an electrical safety agreement for your new premise, stating that you understand there must be clear and easy access to the meter, the main switch will be turned off, and that reconnection or disconnection may occur remotely at any time of the day which can cause exposed wires to become live without notice.
How Much is the Red Energy Connection Fee?
Your energy service (electricity or gas), the state you live in, whether you have a smart meter, and your energy distributor all determine the amount of fees you might have to pay for your energy connection.
Red Energy connection fees typically range from $8 to $66. It's always best to check your contract or contact Red customer service to find out the exact amount. It is important to note that connection fees are determined by your energy distributor, not by Red Energy, and they will appear on your final energy bill.
