Sumo internet plans

While Sumo might be well known for their electricity and gas plans, Sumo also retails as an ISP, offering NBN plans - NBN25, NBN50, and NBN100 - to customers in Australia. All Sumo NBN plans come with unlimited data, and the choice of either a month-to-month, 12-month, or 24-month contract. When choosing a Sumo NBN plan, it’s important to remember that different contract lengths come with different one-off activation fees:

  • No contract: $75 activation
  • 12-month contract: $40 activation
  • 24-month contract: $0 activation + free modem

In addition, you can choose to bring your own NBN-compatible modem when switching to a Sumo NBN plan or purchase a Netcomm modem through Sumo for a one-off fee of $149. However, if you choose to sign up for a 24-month NBN contract, your modem will be supplied free of charge (+$10 delivery fee).

Unlike other energy companies, Sumo does not offer an online account management platform, meaning if you want to update your plan, account details, or payment information you need to contact Sumo customer service directly. In addition, you can submit an “Update my account details” request for a callback from Sumo customer service for any changes you might need to make to your account.

Sumo NBN reviews

Sumo, as an energy company, rates quite well across the web with 4 out of 5 star ratings on Product Review, Trustpilot, and G2. However customers are less happy with Sumo broadband plans. According to Product Review, which shows customer ratings for Sumo energy and Sumo broadband plans separately, Sumo broadband services only get 1.2 out of 5 stars.

Customers' two biggest complaints, as of late, are dropped service and difficulty contacting Sumo customer support. Many customers have recently reported their internet speeds either slowing down, or dropping out completely, and when they tried to contact Sumo for help their issue wasn’t resolved satisfactorily.

Sumo NBN billing and payments

When you sign up for a Sumo NBN plan, you’ll be asked to set up direct debit during the process with a valid credit card. Once your Sumo account is set up, you can change or update your payment details by contacting Sumo customer service.
