Overview of SpinTel
Sydney-based company SpinTel has been in the telecommunications business since it first launched in 1996 as Spin Internet, providing dial-up connection to local residents. Since then, it has grown to include not only broadband services but also mobile network services through the telecom provider Optus.
In 2011, Spin Internet changed its name to SpinTel to better reflect the full spectrum of telecommunication services it provides.
SpinTel network coverage
SpinTel is powered by the Optus 4G network, which covers 98.5% of the Australian population. Australians in most major cities and surrounding areas will have 3G and 4G coverage and can expect to see expanded coverage in the next six months.
SpinTel offers: mobile, broadband and NBN
As an ISP, SpinTel focuses on a variety of broadband transmissions including NBN, ADSL, mobile broadband, and wireless broadband, in addition to simple, no-contract mobile phone plans. SpinTel provides flexibility in their broadband options, so customers can find a plan that fits their needs and lifestyle.
SpinTel SIM-only phone plans
SpinTel provides mobile phone plans for customers looking for flexible, no-contract, services. With SpinTel, customers have the flexibility of no lock-in contracts, data-usage capping to avoid bill shock, and 4G coverage on the Optus network.

NBN + phone bundles with SpinTel
SpinTel gives customers flexible NBN plans to help them find a plan that fits their needs. Customers can choose between bundling NBN with a phone or receiving NBN as a standalone service. NBN plans are offered on a month-to-month basis with no set-up fee, or on a 6-month contract with additional credit added to your account.
Customers can then choose their NBN speed:
- Standard 25, at no additional cost
- Plus 50, for an additional $5 per month,
- Premium 100, for an additional $25 per month.
Additionally, customers have the choice between 200GB of data per month or unlimited data every month, and can either purchase a modem through SpinTel or bring their own.
SpinTel ADSL2+ with phone bundles
Customers with ADSL2+ connections on their property can get their ADSL and fixed phone bundles through SpinTel. ADSL and phone bundles can be set up on a month to month contract with no setup fee, or on a 6-month contract with $15 credit added to your first bill.
ADSL2+ and phone bundles come with either 500GB of data or unlimited data, and customers can opt to include unlimited Australian local, national, and mobile phones. SpinTel has two NBN-ready modems available, or customers can bring their own modem with compatible hardware.
SpinTel mobile broadband
Customers looking for SIM-only mobile broadband plans have four options with SpinTel. SpinTel mobile broadband comes with no lock-in contracts, and customers can track their usage with notifications when they start to get close to their data limit.
|Price / month||$8.95||$15.95||$44.95||$74.95|
SpinTel mobile broadband SIM-cards can be used in any compatible device, or customers can purchase mobile broadband equipment from SpinTel. If customers choose to bring their own device, the SIM card is a $5 upfront fee.
Customers can also choose to purchase either a Huawei USB modem for $99 upfront cost or a TP-Link battery-powered modem for $119 upfront.
Wireless broadband with SpinTel
SpinTel’s wireless broadband, powered by the Optus network, helps customers stay connected without the need for phone lines or cables while offering flexible contracts and capped data usage to fit individual needs.
Wireless broadband is available on a 12-month contract (with $100 credit added to your account), or on a month to month contract with no setup fee. Customers can then choose between basic speed (4G up to 12Mbps) or 4G high speed.
Customers who opt for 4G high-speed wireless broadband will be given the option of either 200GB or 500GB capped monthly data while customers who choose basic 4G speeds only have the 200GB plan available. In addition, for an extra $10 per month, SpinTel offers unlimited Australian local, national, and mobile calls.
Wireless broadband wifi modemCustomers considering SpinTel wireless broadband should note that SpinTel includes a NetComm wifi modem for an upfront cost of $145, which is not optional.
