Our take. Tangerine is one of the cheapest well-reviewed NBN providers in Australia, and the 14-day risk-free trial makes it low-risk to try. If you bring your own modem, make sure it is compatible with your NBN connection type, as Tangerine only offers limited setup help for third-party devices.

Getting started

Signing up & moving home

How to sign up

Sign up online at tangerinetelecom.com.au. You will need your name and contact details, address, a valid driver licence and a preferred connection date.

If your property is already connected to the NBN, activation usually takes one to three business days. A new connection can take one to three weeks while a technician activates the line; that visit is free. New developments may attract an NBN new development fee.

Moving house

Existing customers can move their plan online: check that the new address is eligible, then submit the move with your old and new addresses and dates. Tangerine handles the switchover and cancels the old service.

Tangerine does not charge a relocation fee. A connected address reconnects in one to three business days, though a newly developed, non-NBN-ready property may incur a $275.00 fee.
