Elysian Energy is a 100% Australian owned and operated energy retailer based in Victorian. Elysian Energy is a market disruptor changing the way energy bills are normally calculated and paid. Read on to see more about Elysian energy prices, customer reviews, and contact information and learn if this company is worth all the fuss.
Elysian Energy Administration Update!Elysian Energy has ceased trading after falling into a voluntary administration based on a decision by its board of directors.
As a result of the closure, all of Elysian Energy's customers will be automatically switched to a new provider appointed by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) through the "Retailer of Last Resort Scheme". You may also choose a different supplier of your choice and leave with no exit fees.
What is Elysian Energy?
Elysian Energy is a relatively new energy provider on the Australian market, offering simple plans to allow households to better budget their energy bills through fixed, monthly, pricing. Elysian Energy is 100% Australian owned and operated and is available to customers in New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, Queensland, South Australia, and Tasmania.
What makes Elysian Energy different from other energy companies is its use of a subscription-based model. Similar to Amber Electric, Customers at Elysian energy pay an $80 monthly subscription fee and get 250kWh of electricity included "for free" each month.
If you use under 250kWh of energy per month, your bill will stay at $80.
However, if you use more than the 250kWh of energy included in your plan, then you will be charged extra. Elysian will charge you for each kWh you use over your allotted amount and it will be charged at a low c/kWh rate.
How does Elysian Energy work? The Elysian Energy plan is similar to a smartphone plan that has a data allotment. With a smartphone plan, you purchase the plan for a monthly fee and are allotted a set amount of data each month. However, if you go over, you will be charged extra for each bit of data you use. The same is true for your energy with Elysian Energy.
Is Elysian Energy a Good Deal?
Since there is a set amount of energy that comes included in the price of your plan, Elysian energy might only be a good deal for people who use less than 250kWh of energy a month.
Keep in mind that an electric water heater uses around 120 kWh of energy per month for a 2 person household. Therefore you will likely use more than the 250kWh allotment.
Another important point is that if you use less than 250kWh of energy each month, you will not be refunded for the difference unless you cancel your account.
All Elysian Energy plans come with the following benefits:
- No new connection fees when moving house
- No payment processing fees
- No credit card fees
- No contract exit fees
Here is a list of Pros & Cons of Elysian Energy:

Elysian Energy Review
We took a look at Elysian Energy Reviews left by real customers around the web to understand what kind of experience they had with the company.
- Here is how customers rate Elysian Energy on different review platforms:
- Product Review: 1.9/5 Stars
- Google Reviews: 2.3/5 Stars
- Facebook Reviews: 1.6/5 Stars
As you can see from the rankings above, the average Elysian Energy review rates the company at 1.9 stars out of 5 stars. In other words, Elysian Energy scores a 38% on customer satisfaction.
You don't need to be an expert to see that this score is really low. As such, the majority of Elysian Energy reviews we saw were negative.
One customer left the following Elysian Energy review:
Errors in bills; poor/non-existent customer serviceThis review echoes other reviews left by Elysian Energy customers who mentioned billing issues, especially regarding bills that didn't appear for months on end. This can be an especially tricky situation for households on low-income or those who have financial difficulty as large bills could arrive several months late and cause bill shock.
Signed up June 2021. Heard nothing for 5 months, despite signing up for 3-month billing. After enquiry, got a wildly inaccurate bill - charged me for the solar I generated! Still waiting for a refund. Switched providers as soon as I could. DON'T use these clowns. – Tim
Still, others mention issues with customer service such as in the following Elysian Energy review:
Terrible Customer ServiceAlthough Elysian has 2 Australian call centres, at the time of writing there was a message on the website stating higher than average call volume and to expect longer than average wait times. This corroborates the information provided by this reviewer.
We have had Elysian Electricity for over 2 years. I like the monthly billing and being able to look up usage and solar feed-in on a half-hourly basis. However, that is the end of the good points.
On several occasions, the bill has been wrong due to the wrong pre-paid tariff. The online usage charts are frequently not updated for days or weeks. For the last few months, the invoice is several weeks late.
Following up on these issues is made virtually impossible because emails are never answered (apart from one time when a completely incorrect reply was given) and the customer "help" line is rarely answered. – Anonymous
Still, some customers really enjoy having Elysian Energy as a provider. Here is an example of a positive Elysian Energy Review:
Excellent. The cheapest electricity you can sign up for! I do not know how Elysian make money? As you can see, customers who have had positive experiences can't even understand why other customers would leave negative reviews. Perhaps this is down to the fact that unhappy customers are more likely to leave a review than satisfied customers.
I do not know how the company will stay in business? Hopefully, they do not go bankrupt! Elysian Energy is definitely worth more than 2 stars!!! I had no problems with customer service, unlike other reviews. Their customer service appears to be Australian based and you can actually talk with an Aussie. These people who complain about poor customer service in their reviews have obviously never dealt with AGL or Origin Energy before to complain about poor customer service.
You must consume the full 250kwh every month to make this a fantastic offer. Very easy to use the included 100kwh moon energy every month. The biggest difficulty is using the included 150kwh of Sun energy when you have solar panels in summer. I had to set my water heater timer between 5pm to 7pm daily to consume a monthly 150kwh allowance. The bottom line is cheap electricity. Why pay more? – Thomas, NSW
Whatever the reason it's important to take customer reviews with a grain of salt and do your own research.
Elysian Energy Prices By State
Elysian Energy offers energy a little differently to customers in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Queensland.
Customers select a plan based on their household size and average energy usage, which dictates exactly how much they will pay per month. If they use more electricity than expected they will be billed for the excess energy at the end of the month, if they use less they will get credited for whatever wasn’t used.
Elysian Energy also promises to ensure all customers are on the most appropriate plan. If you use more than 10% of the energy on your current plan, you’ll be bumped up to the next highest plan for the following month. However, if a customer uses 25% less energy, they will be moved down to a smaller plan.
