Who Owns Alinta Energy?
Alinta Energy is owned by a Hong Kong investment firm called Chow Tai Fook Capital Limited.
However, Alinta Energy has its head offices in Sydney and generates and sells energy in both Australia and New Zealand.
Alinta was originally under the State Energy Commission of Western Australia until 1995 when it was dissolved into its separate gas and electricity groups, leading to the creation of Alinta Gas. Alinta Gas then changed its name to Alinta Limited before settling on its current name, Alinta Energy.
In 2017, Alinta Energy was acquired by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and remains a subsidiary up until today.
