Aussie Broadband was first formed in 2008 as the result of a merger between Wideband Networks and Westvic Broadband. Keeping in line with Aussie Broadband's values of transparency to its customers, they publish daily Connectivity Virtual Circuit graphs for each network area where customers can check the upload and download speeds of the last 24 hours. In addition, Aussie Broadband has taken a hard stance against broadband congestion, choosing to stop selling more connections in areas at 80% or more capacity until more bandwidth infrastructure is in place to allow additional customers to join.

Aussie Broadband is well known for its NBN services, and gives customers the option to choose a plan, or create their own, in order to find the best NBN plan for every individual.

Aussie Broadband offers four pre-made NBN plans for customers to choose from which range from NBN 25 to NBN 100 speeds, and all come with unlimited data. All NBN plans with Aussie Broadband come with no lock-in contract, zero excess data charges, and Australian-based support.

Once you’ve chosen the plan you want, you also have the option of buying a Netcomm Power Modem for an additional $149 (+ shipping) or bringing your own NBN-certified modem, as well as choosing a phone plan.

Customers can also choose their fixed phone plan if they need one. Aussie Broadband offers their PAYG phone line for an additional $0 / month, with local and national calls starting at 15c / call for customers who need a phone line but don’t want to pay an additional fixed monthly cost.

For people who might use the phone more, Aussie Broadband has two monthly phone plans; Everyday which includes free local and national calls, and Family which has not only local and national calls but also mobile phone calls.

Build Your Own NBN Plan

For customers who would prefer a more personalized NBN plan, Aussie Broadband allows customers to build the perfect broadband plan for them. Customers can choose from NBN 25, 50, and 100, as well as NBN 150 and 250 (ultrafast speeds) for customers with Fibre-To-The-Building (FTTB) broadband connection. From there, customers can choose their data, from 100GB / month, up to unlimited (for NBN 25 to NBN 100) or up to 3000GB for NBN 150 and NBN 250 speeds.

Like the pre-designed NBN plans, customers have the option of including a Netcomm Power Modem for an additional one time cost of $149 (+ shipping), and a fixed phone line plan from $0 / month.

Due to the customizable nature of the build-your-own plan, prices vary greatly between plans. The data, speed, and phone line you choose can affect the monthly price of your internet bill. However, prices start at $55 / month for NBN 25 with 100GB of data, not including any additional add-ons, and can go up to $270 / month for NBN 250 with 3000GB of data including a fixed-phone line.

Like Aussie Broadband’s premade plans, their build-your-own plans come with no lock-in contract and $0 excess data charges, as well as Australian-based support.

Mobile Broadband Plans from Aussie Broadband

Aussie Broadband offers a range of SIM-Only mobile broadband plans, with data allowances starting at 1GB / month for $10, up to 60GB / month for $65. These SIM cards can be put into most tablets, iPads, and wifi-enabled dongles. Mobile broadband data expires at the end of each billing cycle and doesn’t roll over into each new cycle.

Aussie Broadband Fixed-Phone VoIP Lines

Aussie Broadband offers VoIP phone lines to its broadband customers, starting with their $0 / month PAYG plan. Aussie Broadband also offers two monthly fixed-line subscription plans; Everyday which includes unlimited local and interstate calls for $10 / month, and Family which includes not only local and interstate calls but also mobile calls for $20 / month. For all plans, international calls start at 5c / minute and 13 / 1300 numbers are 35c untimed.

Sign-Up to Aussie Broadband

Customers interested in signing up with Aussie Broadband can do so online, or over the phone by dialling 1300 880 905 to get in touch with Aussie Broadband sales team.

Before signing up for broadband services you will need to provide the connection address to make sure it is NBN ready. If the address is NBN ready, customers will be able to sign up online. Customers will need to provide valid identification when signing up online.

When signing up for prepaid mobile plans, customers will need to provide not only valid identification, including residential address and birthday, but will also need to disclose any other prepaid phone numbers they already have. Customers who pay by cash for their new phone plan, or have more than five prepaid phone numbers, may require additional identification.

Moving with Aussie Broadband NBN

Aussie Broadband recommends contacting their customer service team once you know your moving date, as early as possible, by calling 1300 880 905. Aussie Broadband will close down the current address and set up the new address to be activated on your chosen day. Aussie Broadband has no connection, set-up, or moving fee unless the connection is at a new housing development.

If the NBN connection is at a new development, there will be an additional charge from the NBNCo. which is usually $297.

How To Cancel an Aussie Broadband Plan

Customers needing to cancel their Aussie Broadband plan should call customer service to set up the cancellation. Since Aussie Broadband does not offer pro-rata billing upon cancellation, Aussie Broadband recommends cancelling at the end of a billing cycle to avoid paying the next months invoice.

Pay an Aussie Broadband Bill

Aussie Broadband offers three payment methods for customers; through direct debit, by immediate credit card payment, and through BPAY. BPAY is only available to customers who have direct debit details on file for the first six months. Through BPAY, payments take 4-5 days for processing, but once the payment details are received customers will not be charged twice. Following the invoice being issued, customers have seven days to make a payment with BPAY or 10 days by direct debit.
