Woolworths, a popular Australian supermarket, first began in 1924 by a group of Australian entrepreneurs. Since then, Woolworths has expanded to over 1,000 supermarkets and convenience stores. Between Woolworths and Coles supermarkets, they account for over 80% of the Australian grocery store market.

Since 2015, Woolworths has sold mobile phone plans and prepaid plans to Australians under the Telstra network.

Woolworths Mobile is an MVNO under the Telstra network, which covers more than 98.8% of Australians with 3G or 4G coverage. For customers in the Northern Territory and regional areas, the Telstra network offers the highest coverage of any provider outside the major cities.

Woolworths phones

Woolworths Mobile sells Samsung and OPPO phones, in addition to their prepaid and postpaid mobile plans. Woolworths phones can either be purchased outright and unlocked, at full price, or bundled with one of their SIM-only mobile phone plans and paid off over 24 or 36 months. Currently, if you buy a Woolworths phone outright, you can save 5% when bundled with a $20 or above prepaid plan or up to $30 when bundled with a SIM-only plan.

Want to sign up to Woolworths Mobile?

Customers can purchase their Woolworths SIM-card online. When purchasing, customers must be at least 18 years old, have one form valid ID (either an Australian drivers license, Australian passport, or international passport with a valid visa), and have a credit or debit card ready to set up monthly direct debit payments.

If you would like to port your current number, you will also need your current device available to receive a verification code on the order. Your full name and birth date must also match your current phone account and your new account with Woolworths Mobile. If you currently have a phone plan, you will also need your customer service number (different from your mobile number).

Woolworths Mobile contact and Woolworths My Account

Woolworths Mobile has done away with their over-the-phone customer support, instead opting to expand their 24/7 self service online support. This includes Woolworths live chat online, Woolworths account management  available online or through the Woolworths Mobile app, and online FAQs to answer any questions you might have.

The Woolworths My Account is their self-service account management system all Woolworths Mobile customers can access to manage their Woolworths Mobile account. This includes:

  • Changing and updating personal details
  • Checking your mobile phone details such as SIM number and PUK number
  • Viewing your plan information including contract, proof of purchase, handset fees, and early termination charges
  • Managing payment information including Auto Recharge, card details, and current balance
  • Tracking usage history

Woolworths Mobile recharge and bill payments

Depending on your service, there are different ways you can recharge your Woolworths phone plan or pay your Woolworths bill. If you have a phone plan, you can pay your Woolworths bill one of three ways:

  1. Set up Auto Payment via the Woolworths app or your Woolworths My Account online
  2. Pay online on the Woolworths Mobile website
  3. Using BPAY with the information found on the bottom of your latest bill

If you have a Woolworths prepaid plan, you can recharge your mobile service online or through your Woolworths My Account with a valid bank card or recharge voucher (available at Woolworths or Big W stores). However, you can take the hassle out of remembering to recharge your phone every month by setting up Auto Recharge through your Woolworth My Account.

Woolworths Mobile app

The Woolworths Mobile app is available on both the Apple Store and Google Play. With the Woolworths Mobile app, you can see all the details about your Woolworths Mobile plan, manage your details and update them as needed, pay or recharge your plan or prepaid service, and buy additional add-ons for your phone plan.

Customers give mixed reviews of Woolworths Mobile.

 Customer reviews cite that sign-up and activation are easy, and the network service is reliable and offers good coverage. However, many customers say that while the service and network are reliable, customer service itself is difficult to get in contact with and slow to resolve issues when they arise.
