ReAmped Energy

ReAmped Energy was a fast-growing Australian electricity retailer built around a single idea: by being 100% online, from signup to billing to support, it cut the cost of running a call centre and passed the savings on as some of the cheapest rates on the market. It supplied electricity in NSW, the ACT, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. ReAmped has since ceased operations, so this page is informational only. Plans & rates

ReAmped Energy electricity plans & rates

Plans differ by state and billing method. Every retailer must publish a Default Market Offer (the government reference price), and ReAmped Energy's market offers are set as a discount off that benchmark.

There are no live ReAmped Energy electricity plans listed right now. To see what you would actually pay, compare ReAmped Energy against other retailers for your address and usage.

All ReAmped Energy plans

ReAmped Classic

A simple electricity plan with no lock-in contract and $0 exit fees. Direct debit and online communication were required, with fortnightly, monthly or quarterly payment options.

What customers say about ReAmped Energy

Reviews were polarised. Happy customers reported big savings and a very easy signup, with some halving their bills. The biggest complaint was suddenly high bills, often based on estimated rather than actual meter reads, especially on the Advance plan. Reading your meter is handled by your distributor, not your retailer; ReAmped did let customers submit a self meter read each month to keep bills accurate.

Common questions

ReAmped Energy: your questions answered

As a small retailer, ReAmped could not absorb the rising cost of wholesale electricity: the power it was buying cost more than it could sell it for. It asked customers to switch suppliers and ceased operations. If you were a ReAmped customer, the best thing to do is switch energy suppliers as soon as possible.

ReAmped had no inbound call centre. You signed up online, agreed to direct debit as your payment method, agreed to eBilling, and handled all account queries online via live chat, callback or an online form. In return, ReAmped tended to be among the cheapest retailers around. If you were not comfortable with a fully online provider, ReAmped was not the right fit.

ReAmped offered four electricity plans: Classic, Handshake (better rates for a one-year commitment), Advance (its cheapest rates, paid fortnightly in advance) and Solar (best feed-in tariff). Towards the end it only offered a standing offer equal to the default market offer for existing customers. See the rates section for more.

No. ReAmped Energy supplied electricity only and never offered gas plans. If you want a single retailer for both electricity and gas, providers such as Alinta Energy, Origin Energy and AGL supply both.

Reviews were mixed and polarised: 4.3/5 on Google but 1.9/5 on ProductReview. Happy customers reported big savings and easy signup. The most common complaint was suddenly high bills, often based on estimated rather than actual meter reads, especially on the Advance plan. Switch as soon as possible. Compare active retailers that supply your address against the reference price, check any connection and disconnection fees, and switch with no exit fees once you find a better deal.

Is ReAmped Energy the cheapest for your home?

ReAmped Energy is one option, but not always the cheapest. Compare it against other retailers that supply your address to find the plan that fits how you use energy.
