Plans & rates

Discover Energy electricity plans & rates

Plans differ by state and billing method. Every retailer must publish a Default Market Offer (the government reference price), and Discover Energy's market offers are set as a discount off that benchmark.

There are no live Discover Energy electricity plans listed right now. To see what you would actually pay, compare Discover Energy against other retailers for your address and usage.

Solar

Discover Energy solar: feed-in tariffs & batteries

Discover Energy offered solar panel and battery installation, a feed-in tariff and a Virtual Power Plant, with three feed-in tariff tiers. The Standard FiT was the lowest rate (around 6c to 6.7c/kWh depending on state); the Solar Smart FiT paid a higher rate on solar exports, though daily export volumes could be capped; and the VPP Premium FiT, for customers joining the Virtual Power Plant with solar panels plus battery storage, paid a premium rate well above the market average. The advertised premium rates applied only to a capped daily export, which was a common customer complaint.

Discover Energy Virtual Power Plant

  • Premium VPP feed-in tariff well above the market average for solar panels plus battery storage.
  • Tiered VPP rates of up to 30c/kWh on the first 3.3kWh exported daily, 18c/kWh on the next 3.3kWh and 9c/kWh on the rest.

What customers say about Discover Energy

Reviews were mixed but broadly positive on service. Customers often cited helpful, accommodating support by live chat and phone, with switching, moving home and billing issues handled smoothly. The most common complaint was the daily cap on the headline solar feed-in tariff: the advertised premium rate applied only to the first few kilowatt-hours exported each day, with the remainder credited at a much lower rate.
